Can You Have Multiple Company Accounts in Go2Clock?
Within Go2Clock, it’s possible to have multiple company accounts set up and managed by the same parent company. There are two approaches to this, and which one suits you depends on how the company operate day to day.
Multiple Separate Company Accounts
Go2Clock allows you to create multiple separate company accounts, each within its own employees, devices, data, settings and user data. These accounts are completely separate and cannot be linked together within Go2Clock. Data cannot be shared or automatically transferred between them, and each company must be configured and managed individually.
If you need data transferred between separate Go2Clock accounts, this may be possible using the Go2Clock API. This would require custom development by your own development team to determine what information needs to be transferred and how it should be handled.
Managers who need access to multiple company accounts must be set up separately within each account, using a unique email address and login for each company. Email addresses cannot be reused across multiple Go2Clock accounts.
Combining Multiple Companies into One Account
Multiple companies can also be managed within a single Go2Clock account, rather than creating a separate account for each one. To do this, you create unique departments for each company with distinct naming conventions, then assign employees to the appropriate department.
With this approach, data is shared between the companies, so there’s no need for duplicate data input and only has to be set up once. Managers can be set up with limited access to only their own company’s departments, preventing them from accessing employees in other companies. This lets the companies share the same Go2Clock account while still maintaining separation between employees and management access.
When Should Companies Be Combined?
Combining companies into a single Go2Clock account is useful when employees from different companies, or agency staff, need to share same clock devices. A single account lets all employees register against the same devices, while departments keep them separated by company. Managers can then be given restricted access to only the departments they’re responsible for.
When should Companies Be Separate?
Where companies operate independently and don’t need to share devices or data, we generally recommend using separate Go2Clock accounts to maintain a clear separation between each company.
Comparing the Two Approaches
| Separate Accounts | Combined Account | |
|---|---|---|
| Data Sharing | Not possible | Shared automatically |
| Setup effort | Configured individually | Set up once |
| Shared devices | Not supported | Single login, restricted by department |
| Shared devices | Not supported | Supported |
| Best for | Independent companies | Companies sharing staff or devices |
Go2Clock supports both separate and combined company accounts, and the right choice depends on whether your companies need to share devices, data or staff. Separate accounts offer a cleaner split with more setup work, while a combined account reduces duplication but requires careful use of departments and manager permissions.
