VIPRE Email Threat Trends Report Q4 2025
Key insights from our partner VIPRE to help organisations defend against modern email threats
Our trusted partner VIPRE has released its Q4 2025 Email Threat Trends Report and the message is clear the email security landscape has fundamentally changed.
According to VIPRE’s latest data, cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting human trust rather than relying solely on technical loopholes.
Nearly one in five malicious emails analysed in Q4 impersonated senior executives, targeting employees through authority based deception. Additionally, 38% of all spam was distributed from compromised legitimate accounts, making attacks far more convincing and harder to detect. Most strikingly, callback phishing incidents surged by 500%, highlighting a sharp rise in socially engineered, human driven attacks.

Threat actors are no longer hiding behind basic spoofing tactics. They are leveraging real accounts, impersonating leadership, and engaging directly with victims to bypass traditional defences, often operating in plain sight.
VIPRE’s report explains how the threat landscape is evolving beyond conventional detection and outlines the proactive steps organisations must take to strengthen their email security strategy.
