    How to setup policies in the VIPRE Business Console?

    AFTER INSTALLATION, VIPRE BUSINESS CONSOLE CONTAINS 4 POLICIES

    • Default
    • Default for Laptops
    • Default for Servers
    • Default for Workstations

    THE DEFAULT POLICY

    This policy is designed for Agents to be reassigned from and as such has all options disabled and no exclusions. Agents calling into the Console with no policy assignment will fall into this Category.
    If Automatic Policy Assignment is enabled, Agents will be automatically re-assigned to whichever policy is specified for the Operating System it’s using.

    Nota: These specifications can be altered inside the “Auto Policy Assignment” section of the Site Properties.

    ADDITIONAL STOCK POLICIES

    The three additional Policies included with the VIPRE Business Installation contain the recommended settings and exclusions for their different system-types.
    By default, these three policies will be where Agents are assigned to when using Automatic Policy Assignment.

    CONFIRMING COMMINICATION INFORMATION

    It’s important to confirm communication information prior to deployment:

    • Highlight the target Policy and select “Policy Properties“
    • Select “Comunicazione” on the left-hand side
    • Ensure the Politica e Update Servers are correct
    • Apply any chances made and close the Policy’s Properties

    CREATING ADDITIONAL POLICIES

    When creating additional policies, it’s important to ensure the new policy is based on the correct existing policy. This ensures the basic settings and exclusions are present.
    There are two ways to create a new Policy:

    • Right-Click the policy to be used as a Template and select Copy Policy
    • Highlight Windows Policies, then Add Policy, and choose an appropriate policy to use as a template

    ADDING ADDITIONAL EXTENSIONS

    Once satisfied with the Policies themselves, it’s important to add any exclusions recommended by the manufacturers of software products on systems running VIPRE Business Agents.

    Typical situations that warrant an Exclusion: (Not all-inclusive)

    • Mission-Critical Programs or Files
    • Programs running a self managed database
    • Resource-intensive programs (such as Auto-CAD)
    • Backup software that locally stores archive files
