Do employees need to press the In/Out buttons?

Can employees punch in/out without the need to press the in or out buttons on the time and attendance terminals?

If you just have day-shift workers using a device then they don’t need to press the in or out buttons. The first clock of the day is classed as an ‘in’ and the second clock of the day is classed as an ‘out’.
However, if you also have night-shift workers then everyone (day and night) needs to select an ‘in’ or ‘out’ option so that the reporting knows that they are either starting or finishing a shift.

If an employee doesn’t press the in/out buttons when clocking in and out, what happens?

If they don’t press the In or Out it will go in as whatever status is shown on the screen of the device. They should press the right one.
